CRM Software for Iimproved Contact with Customer and Prospects

Our CPA firm is looking into moving to CRM software. There appear to be many choices offering similar but different applications. We have looked as a firm in how we plan on using the software so we have some of that figured out.

My internet research leads me to conclude there are few firms small/mid size firms who use is and yet the larger firms - top 50 and above seem to have mastered it?

You suggestions and recommendations are appreciated.

Choosing the right POS System

Choosing a Point of Sale System is not a simple task. There are many products that you can choose from, however, not all POS Systems cater to your business needs. You must first identify which one is ideal for you. Selecting a POS System is a critical decision for every business owner because a POS System serves as a financial determining factor between your business and your customers.

The truth is, there are some POS Systems that are great for select companies, but not for others. The basic t… Continue

Is Your Spread Sheet Telling You The Truth?

Quite a Difference.
A company recently asked us to convert their basic profit and loss budget, which they had prepared in an Excel spreadsheet, into a full financial forecast with cash flows and balance sheets.
Utilizing our proprietary software package, Up Your Cash Flow XT2-2009, we mapped their numbers from their Excel document and into our program and ran the analysis. However, when we completed the task, our numbers simply would not reconcile to their spreadsheet budget. In fact, the… Continue

An introduction to social media

What is social media?

Social media is online networking via such websites as Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Youtube, Digg, etc. These websites work via “Web 2.0” technology which allows internet users to easily save, publish and share information with friends, colleagues and followers.

Blogs, podcasts, video and photos can be uploaded to a social media website and then be shared with contacts and other websites relatively easily and at very little cost, if not for free.

It is a fast grow… Continue

The Value of Partner Retreats

In these tumultuous economic times, are partner retreats really necessary? You betcha. Especially now, more than ever, members of firms need to come together to re-evaluate and realign their goals and objectives, as this will carry them forward and emerge unscathed.

A retreat can be four days, one day or whatever you want it to be. The outcome is the same – come together as a team and discuss all the things you really never have the opportunity to talk about, because everyday work gets in the w… Continue

What would you do for a living?

Right before "Saturday Night Live" debuted in 1975, Dan Aykroyd thought to himself, "If we die tonight, it's all over. I may as well get into the snowplow business." I suppose we've all had those moments, but perhaps not on that scale. This leads me to the question, "If you could not have a career in accounting or finance, what would you do for a living?"

It's 95 degrees here in Columbus right now. I don't think anyone is thinking of snowplows today.

Invasion of the internet - (aka Crossing State Lines)

I have recently been approached by a few friends looking to starting new internet-based businesses. One will be selling advertising, the other an information management services. Though nothing physical will be sold, they do hope to eventually have clients and sales across the country. Since I predominantly handle individuals with small, local businesses, I have a lot of catching up to do on multi-state tax issues before I feel ready to consider handling this. At what point would it become a mul… Continue
